Getting a Quote

If you are planning a move, it is always a good idea to get your removal quotes early. This will allow you to factor in and budget for your move in advance. Moves vary in time taken and complexity so you need feedback on what is involved.
Albany Removals offers two options for providing quotes:

1. WhatsApp video

Many people find this the most convenient. Take a video of your property (and garden if applicable) room by room highlighting what is moving with you and what is staying. You should also video any access issues such as steps, stairs, driveways etc. These should be sent to Albany Removals on 07970383207. These videos are deleted after use.

2. Personal visit
An Albany Removals company colleague can be shown round the property.


Video quotes are especially useful for people with busy schedules or who live far from our Nottingham base. The convenience of this method has led to it being the most popular way to obtain a quote. However, some people may prefer to discuss a move face to face, especially if it is a very complex move for larger houses and gardens, where access issues need assessing, or they do not use a lot of social media platforms. Albany Removals is happy to offer a quoting surface that meets your needs.

Factors that affect your move are generally linked to the time it will take and the number of colleagues required. Your quote will consider:

Distance

Many of Albany Removals moves are within the Rushcliffe, West Bridgford, Broxtowe and Nottingham City areas and involve people moving within a short radius. People up-sizing to meet family needs, or down-sizing as they no longer need larger properties. The cost of fuel is therefore low and the time taken on the road is short. This cuts down the overall cost.
We also do plenty of longer distance moves too, such as West Bridgford to the North of Scotland and Ruddington to Cornwall. Fuel costs need to take account of the additional miles and time. These longer moves will usually take 2 or 3 days. Large lorries have a top speed of 50 miles per hour and drivers must legally take rests. Overnight stays need factoring in, though we always look for the most cost-effective options for our colleagues.

Access

Most properties are easy to access. Saving a parking space outside your home, for the lorries, makes the move quicker as the colleagues haven’t got to carry heavy property excessive distances and it is easier to maintain security during loading. We ask you to notify neighbours in advance and double check the space is clear before we arrive on moving day.

Some accessways may be more awkward and prevent the lorries from parking close to the property, or the colleagues need to climb flights of stairs. These moves take longer. It may also be necessary to arrange for smaller van to transport contnet between the removal lorry and the property. This is unusual in the Nottingham area though. Houses built on slopes with no road access are more common on the coast, but houses with long windy narrow driveways are more likely, especially in rural areas and can be tricky. These really need a personal visit for the quote.
Size and content of your property

Amount

Obviously the more there is to move the longer it will take. It will also affect the size of the lorry needed or even the number of lorries needed. On top of that the number of colleagues needed on the move will also be determined by the amount of goods to be moved. We can usually work this out at the quoting stage. The important thing to bear in mind is that we need to get your removal completed in a timely fashion, so the right lorries and the right numbers of hands-on-deck is essential.

Type of content

Most people have standard sized furniture, belongings in boxes and a few items from garden sheds and garages. If you wish, you can cut down on costs by packing yourself (see previous blogs for guidance) and by getting rid of things you don’t need or want any more before the move, rather than taking it with you.
