Removal from Trowell to Aslockton January 2022
The customer self-packed, so we arrived for an 8am start and attached the ramp on our 18-tonne truck ready for loading. It was our larger truck; at 38 feet long, it has plenty of room for large moves, avoiding the need for repeat journeys. As always, we put down carpet protectors on the floors and stairs.
When we walked around the house with the customer, to plan the loading, my Jaw dropped; all furniture was labelled for new room destination and all goods were properly boxed and labelled. Of course, we do ask everyone to do this to make the move efficient and safe for all, but we too often find that this hasn’t been fully done, so full credit to the organisation shown by the customers. I’m sure they appreciated the preparation when they came to unpack in their new home too.
We started with the large items. As we didn’t have to dismantle any furniture, loading was relatively quick and easy. Ten wardrobe boxes were used for hanging clothes, keeping them clean and crease free. These are well worth using in a move, to make packing and unpacking clothes easier and avoid having to re-iron. We loaded quickly and efficiently due to goods being packed and labelled brilliantly.
When we arrived at the new address, we had to wait 2 hours for the keys. Frustrating, but it could have been longer, something that seems to be happening more frequently, probably partly due to covid. Let’s hope this improves as things begin to settle down.
Due to ease of access at the new property we could get the ramp right to the front door, making it easier to unload. Combined with the excellent packing, we manage to get all furniture and goods in place by 5:30, despite the delay and size of the move. The customers were a pleasure to work with. They had read and applied the hints and tips, which made everything run smoothly.
This was a move of 20 miles. It is very important to make sure your moving company uses the correct size trucks, to clear the home in one go, as returning to collect the remainder is difficult and inconvenient for everyone. It delays the new owners moving in and adds hours to the overall removal time.
Albany removals has been in the industry of moving and storage for over 32 years. Preparation is everything, so if you haven’t the time to pack, let us do it for you.
Try to avoid packing and removal of things you no longer want. If you have time, sort through all those things that are tucked away in cupboards, sheds, the attic and elsewhere. Get them cleared or recycled before the packing starts. Disposing of goods, you no longer want, will mean a clean sweep for your new home and you will pay less for your move.
Once again – a big thankyou to today’s customers, for your excellent and organised preparation, making the job run smoothly for all. Good luck in your new home.
